Elly Jonez
Director, Non-profit Projects
At Chapter Three, I am focused on providing great solutions to non-profits, NGOs, activist organizations, and more! My day to day role is primarily that of a technical project manager. My background is as a web generalist and developer, and I have over 15 years experience in the web technology industry, much of it in the non-profit sector.
I've been involved in web technology since the mid-nineties, when I moved to San Francisco on a whim to take part in the first wave of web mania. After working for a series of start-ups, experiencing a wild IPO and the subsequent crash, I took a break to join the seasonal staff at at the largest retreat center in the country. After that experience, when I returned to tech, I was determined to work on projects that were personally and globally meaningful. I was lucky enough to land a gig as the web services manager at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where I led the charge to migrate many years' worth of flat files and legal documents into Drupal, a project which got me hooked on Drupal forever. After that, I ran my own small business providing Drupal sites to non-profits and socially conscious businesses, until I found the comradery of Chapter Three in 2009.
I'm aware of the unique challenges non-profits face when it comes to technology. Part of my role at Chapter Three is to help guide non-profits through the world of Drupal development, as well as facilitate outreach and collaboration between non-profits, charities, NGOs and the Drupal community.
Outside of Chapter Three, I spend most of my time writing, napping, hugging my cats, and walking around San Francisco.
