We created fresh web identities for Examiner's two print publications, giving them a way to balance a streamlined reader experience with business goals and diverse content.
Old Home Page
New Home Page

We redesigned the site to reconcile the papers' classic aesthetic with a more modern online experience. Better visual imagery and differentiation, more content above the fold and a better visual hierarchy for various sections created a richer, more meaningful experience for readers.

New Local Section

We also designed flexible feature areas to allow more editorial flexibility, and redesigned and expanded their blog content presence. We also built ways to integrate a calendar and other third-party solutions such as jobs and classified ads. The creation of a new content taxonomy made information discovery easier.

We improved navigation and browsing, particularly with a better visual hierarchy of articles, with more imagery and streamlining made for a better user experience overall. We also designed a clearer, more comprehensive showcase for local teams. Our creation of a new taxonomy with unique styles to organize different categories of sports articles allowed a more coherent organization of content.

Old Sports Section
New Sports Section

We designed a more robust way of representing the diverse array of information in this single section. This involved creating a taxonomy tailored to inherently overlapping local content. We streamlined and highlighted imagery on the page, and created ways to feature local blog content.
