Drupal for Site Builders -- February 23rd, 24th & 25th

In three days time, you’ll be brought up to speed on Drupal and be ready to tackle your own project. This course is designed both for users with no Drupal experience and those who are familiar with Drupal and want to expand their knowledge and dig deeper into their sites. We'll have in-depth discussions on Drupal’s installation process and managing your users, comments, and content. You'll also review Drupal's block system and using taxonomy to categorize your content. This course sold out last time it was offered, so make sure you sign up soon to guarantee your spot.

On the first day, significant time is devoted to creating new content types using the Content Construction Kit (CCK) and exploring field types, widgets, and the corresponding settings.

The second day is dedicated entirely to CCK and Views. Views is a powerful tool that is used to create custom pages, blocks, and RSS feeds on your site. You'll finish the day by creating a photo gallery using CCK, image field, and Views.

We've added a third day to our previous offering focusing on Panels. You'll learn about implementing different layouts, using Panels with Views, and embedding Panels to get every custom page perfect.

Prerequisites

An understanding of the Internet and how websites function is necessary for this course. Previous experience using a content management system such as Wordpress or Joomla! is helpful but can easily be swapped for a working knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Drupal Panels for Site Builders -- February 26th

The Chapter Three Drupal Panels One-day is perfect for those who want a quick refresher or need a basic mastery of Panels fast. This one-day course will allow participants to use Panels to create custom pages with different layouts (3 column or 2 column layout, top header, footer), use Panels to take over existing pages, such as the node creation page, and use Panels with Views to embed views within Panels to create custom block sections or custom node creation pages that show existing content above it, or custom moderation pages.

NOTE: This course is initially offered exclusively to the participants of our previous Beginning Drupal for Site Builders training course. General signup opens on January 19th. Sign up to be placed on the waiting list to secure any unreserved spots.

Prerequisites

A basic understanding of Drupal, CCK and Views is necessary for this course. Having taken the Intro to Drupal for Site Builders course satisfies this requirement.

Beginning Drupal for Site Builders -- Dec 14th & 15th

Drupal Module Development -- Dec 16th, 17th & 18th

You're a front-end Drupal ninja master, you’ve used CCK, Views and Panels to create some of the greatest websites out there, but you’ve never built your own module. Over three days you’ll go from writing a small, four-line module to writing a complex module with over two hundred lines of code that uses the Forms API, Schema API, all of the top ten Drupal hooks, creates custom database tables, adds a custom CCK field, and even tests itself using Simpletest.

Sound intense? It is, but if you’re up for it than in just three days you’ll jump from zero development to understanding how over 90% of Drupal modules are built.

Prerequisites

To get the most out of this class you should have at least six months of prior PHP development. You should also be familiar with Drupal terms such as Nodes, Blocks, CCK, Views, etc. Experience with installing Drupal and contributed modules/themes will help to understand the concepts of module development.
